OLYMPIC FUNDING - The Waseca Exchange Club announced the formation of a Special Olympics Fundraising Committee, to focus on raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics in Waseca County.

Exchange Club launches Special Olympics fundraising committee to support local athletes

The Waseca Exchange Club is proud to announce the formation of a Special Olympics Fundraising Committee, created as an offshoot of the Club's ongoing commitment to service and community support. This new committee will focus specifically on raising awareness and funds for Special Olympians in Waseca County, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement they need to thrive both on and off the field.

One of the first recipients of funds from the committee is Jake Lieser, a Waseca Exchangite and Special Olympian. His involvement brings both heart and firsthand perspective to the committee's work, highlighting the impact Special Olympics has on athletes and their families.
The Special Olympics Fundraising Committee is chaired by Jen Williamson, an Exchangite who also works professionally with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Committee members include: Ann Staloch-Vice Chair, Anna Hagle-Secretary, Mikhail Rostislavovich-President of the Waseca Exchange Club, At Large Members are Randi Eaton, Connie Hoehn, Colby Hoof, Tarin Kuball, Rachel Meyer, and Angie Wilson.

"This committee brings together passion, purpose, and people who truly understand the importance of inclusion," said Jen Williamson, Chair of the Special Olympics Fundraising Committee. "Special Olympics is about so much more than sports. It's about confidence, belonging, and giving athletes the chance to shine. We are excited to rally our community around these incredible individuals."

Mikhail Rostislavovich, President of the Waseca Exchange Club, emphasized the broader community impact of the initiative. "Special Olympic athletes show us what determination, joy, and perseverance really look like," said Rostislavovich. "It is important for our entire community to wrap their arms around these athletes and this organization. When we support Special Olympics, we are strengthening the fabric of Waseca itself."

The committee will kick off its fundraising efforts with a Sponsored Athlete Spotlight campaign.

Local businesses will have the opportunity to sponsor individual athlete bios, which will be featured across multiple social media platforms. This campaign is designed not only to raise funds, but also to help the community get to know Waseca County's Special Olympics athletes, their stories, their accomplishments, and their pride in representing our community.

Lieser shared what the initiative means to him simply and sincerely. "Special Olympics makes me feel proud and happy," said Lieser. "I like showing people what I can do, and it means a lot when the community supports us."

Businesses and community members interested in getting involved are encouraged to watch for updates through the Waseca Exchange Club's social media channels. If you would like more information, please contact Jen Williamson at 507-837-9088.
