The Waseca Public Library held its second concert of the Summer Concert Series Tuesday night, showcasing Leslie Rich and the Rocket Soul Choir.
Starting at 7 p.m. at Trowbridge Park behind the library, Leslie Rich and his two friends Pete and Adam started their show explaining how the band had traveled down from the Cities, but originally were from Ireland. Rich explained that there was a version of the Rocket Soul Choir back in Ireland from 1994, but this rock band has been together almost nine years.
Although the three friends all have full-time jobs in addition to making music, none of them can imagine their lives without it.
“It’s part of our makeup, man,” Rich said in his Irish lilt. “There’s nothing else we can do.”
When asked about how the city band felt about being in Waseca, Rich explained that they were happy to come.
“We’re always and will always be looking for places that are not the Cities,” Rich said. “It’s much better for us to go out and find new people to play to: We always want to come to places like this that have a pretty vibrant sort of summer program and a great community.”
