TEAM Academy announced its January Students of the Month during a monthly assembly last Friday. January's students accepted their awards (a balloon, a ring pop, and a coupon for free ice cream) in comfort and style, since the January CARES assembly coincided with the school's “Pajama Day.”
Sixth-grade student Carter Wernimont's favorite school subject is math, and for fun he likes to play video games. He says if he saw someone struggling, he'd start by asking them what was wrong and listening to their trouble. Fifth-grader Bryan Vega also enjoys math and video games; his favorite animal is the cheetah because of its ability to run fast. Joannamarie Hitchcock was the fourth-grade student of the month. Her favorite part of school is getting to see her friends; her favorite food is nachos. She'd help someone out by making them laugh, and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up so she can save animals. Third-grader Alayna Gifford says her favorite part of school is “FunFest,” the weekly celebration TEAM Academy holds on Friday afternoons. Her favorite color is blue, and she'd like to be a gymnast. She says she'd offer to be someone's friend if she saw them on their own or sad. First-grade student Laney Johnson's favorite thing about school is the pajama party they had, and she also likes to read. When she grows up, she says she wants to be a teacher. Tavius Johnson was the kindergarten student of the month. His favorite thing about school is reading, he likes turtles, and when he grows up he says he'd like to be a police officer.
Kenya Solis, second-grade student of the month, was not present to receive recognition.
