Sacred Heart Catholic School received a donation of $8,000 from the Waseca VFW to purchase two smart boards on Nov. 18, 2022.
Sacred Heart Principal Chris Dahle was at a loss for words to express how thankful he was for the donation. “We are very thankful to them,” he said.
The VFW’s gift gave Sacred Heart the start it needed in replacing the 12-year-old units currently in classrooms. “Like textbooks, they need to be replaced after a while,” Dahle explained.
Smart boards have become common in schools, even smaller private ones like Sacred Heart. “Like I told the VFW, love it or hate it, having the best technology in the classroom is important,” he said. “Technology has become a vital resource to providing students with a great education.”
The new smart boards came to the school at the beginning of this month, and were installed shortly after their arrival.
The donation was made possible by the VFW’s charitable gambling program. The purpose of the programs is to be able to help community organizations with their goals. Sacred Heart is one of many beneficiaries.
“They gave us a good start on getting our current smart boards replaced throughout the school,” Dahle commented.
