Waseca high school talent show 2023

Monday, February 13 Waseca High School kicked off Snow Week with the annual talent show. The show was organized by Karen Pfarr Anderson working with the Student Council's advisor, Brenda Nelson and the student chairperson for the talent show, Addison Wieseler. “I am always amazed at the wonderful talent that we see at the talent show. There are always a few students that perform that I never knew held that kind of talent,” Pfarr Anderson said following the show. “This year did not disappoint and again I discovered unknown talents in our students. They were all amazing and worked hard.”
In addition to the night's emcees, Eddy Gallegos and Lucas Vasquez, the members of the Snow Week Court took turns introducing the acts, as well as themselves, to the audience. Members of the court are Joey Adamek, Ella Dufault, Ethan Davis, Lindsey Kopetzki, Leo Harguth, Thyme Lang, Zander Honstad, Sarah Robbins, Griffin Krautkremer, Chloe Schumacher, Korbin Schumacher, and Kloe Wadd. The coronation of Snow Week King and Queen will take place Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and parents and community members are invited to attend.
The school's Jazz 1 band, directed by Devon Lawrence, started the evening with two selections. “Clocks,” recorded by Coldplay and arranged by John Wasson, and “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” by Paul Simon and arranged by Paul Baker. Like bookends, the State Street show choir finished the night with selections from their show, “You Know My Name,” which has a James Bond theme.
The Senior High School Student Council took the stage together to make the audience laugh with a fast-paced series of corny jokes. The Snow Week Court performed “their lifetime in song,” taking audiences through milestones in their lives by reviewing who was President, how much gas cost, then dancing to a clip from the year's top song. Some audience members found themselves surprised to hear the class of 2023 was born in 2004, when Usher's “Yeah 3x” was the number one.
Spread between the large group acts, sixteen solo or duet songs were performed. Performers were Adrian Arreguin, Sadie Schimming, Sophie Cawra, Kylie Snow, Patrick Howe, Adian Androli, Ava Norland, Madilynn Meyer, Lindsey Kopetzki, Eddie Herman, Jackie Mathern, Korbin Schumacher, Cece Huttemier, Ryan Leigh, Kamryn Rice, and Grace Lapides. Each song had the audience moving; clapping along, bobbing heads, and on multiple occasions even launching into standing ovations. Acts were aptly described as “explosive,” and student performers were congratulated in the halls following the show time and time again.
