WOMAN-OWNED - Jill Stagman (left) and Reyna Monson are at the helm of Pantheon Computers, a Waseca-based business which provides IT assistance to companies in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and North and South Dakota.

Pantheon Computers acquiring recognition as "woman-owned"

Pantheon Computers, based in Waseca with offices also located in Rochester and Mankato, has completed the initial process to be certified as “woman-owned,” an official designation which lets their customers show they have a diverse vendor base as required by some contracts.

The business has been co-owned by Jill Stagman and 15-year company veteran and president Reyna Monson since January 1.

Jill Stagman stated that becoming certified as a woman-owned business is a complex process which requires both personal and business-related information including a company history, essays, resumes, and more, as well as a site visit during which officials examine business practices to ensure at least 51 percent of ownership and management decisions are, in fact, made by females. “Since both owners and 80% of our leadership team are women, this will be easy”, Stagman notes.

The process of applying for woman owned status has been demanding and sometimes quite frustrating, observes Stagman. “I guess the advantage to that is, with all the verification we’ve provided, the designation really does mean something.”

Pantheon has been in business since 1997. Its 30 employees provide outsourced IT for small and mid-size businesses or agencies using between 25 and 250 computers. Among many available options, customers engage Pantheon to provide system security, online support, troubleshooting, routine maintenance and ensure compliance with various regulations including HIPPA, FDIC, CJIS, and other compliance standards.

“Compliancy can be overwhelming,” observed Monson. “We provide the technical tools, reporting, audit support and policy guidance our clients need.”

According to Stagman, Pantheon’s customers are primarily located in Minnesota, but they also serve the surrounding states including North and South Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Both owners are excited about wrapping up the certification processes; although Stagman notes that once certification is achieved it must be renewed yearly, “but that process is much less complicated.”
