Officers chosen

The Waseca Exchange Club elected its 2023-24 board of directors and officers at its meeting on Tuesday, June 27. Although there wasn’t an official vote count by the end of the meeting, the following members were written as volunteers and candidates: Sally Takala, President; Mikhail Rostislavovich, President Elect; Caryn Wendt, Secretary and Treasurer; and Board of Directors Perry Berg and Tom Sankovitz.

Takala shared that she will step down from her position as president at the end of the year; her term lasts until April of 2023.

Members present were also asked to join volunteer teams. Currently, Sankovitz is part of the club’s red team, which is in charge of public relations, membership development, and membership enrichment. Mark Butterfield, Linda Johnson, and Wendt are part of the white team, which is in charge of awarding and sponsoring a Waseca Student of the Month and working with community schools on projects. Berg and Johnson are on the blue team, which is in charge of community projects like highway cleanups and child abuse prevention and awareness.

Group members were asked to bring ideas for activities the exchange club can use to raise money to their July 11 meeting. They are also considering bringing in a speaker for the July 25 meeting.
