Stacy Schroeder won easily over Robert Tackett in a special election to fill the Waseca City Council Ward One seat left empty after Ted Conrath’s resignation. Schroeder took 671 votes to Tackett’s 255.
On election day, Schroeder says she walked over to the courthouse to await results after making dinner for her family. “It was very interesting to watch this process; I have tremendous faith in those who run and work at our local elections,” she said.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and response from everyone, not just Ward One! I also want to thank my opponent, Robert Tackett. He’s got a big heart and willingness to serve Waseca, you’ll see him around in other ways.”
Schroeder said she believes in this community, and “its greatest asset, the people.” She said she believes Waseca residents are looking for fresh ideas–for someone willing to form partnerships to create a “Waseca in today’s world” and not be afraid to look at different ways to get there.
What’s next for Schroeder?
“I’ll be jumping in with both feet and learning as much as I can to be able to make informed decisions that fit the needs of these city limits,” Schroeder answers. “And while the limits speak of the geographical location, we shouldn’t limit the potential for sustainable growth.”
