On Thursday, May 25, 50 kindergarteners celebrated graduation from Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in the school auditorium.
After elementary principal Jeff Adams welcomed everyone to the program, the graduates walked down the stairs and into their seats before singing and dancing for the audience. First off was “Who Let the Letters Out” based off of “Who Let the Dogs Out,” followed by “I Like to Count It,” a parody of “I Like to Move It,” and “Tooty Ta.”
When they let out most of their energy, the students were invited to sit down on the auditorium floor while a 20-minute long slideshow showed some of the highlights of their just-completed year, including dressing up for Halloween and visiting the Janesville Fire Department to learn about fire safety.
Then came the moment everyone waited for; the students received their diplomas from their teachers, Ms. Kristin Bartelt, Mr. Cory Jewison, and Mrs. Amy Schmitz, before performing a graduation song and walking off to “Pomp and Circumstance.”
The following 50 students became kindergarten graduates of JWP: Isabella Aasen, Kellan Ahlman, Madison Andrews, Korah Bartelt, La’Niah Boyd, Jadiel Brito-Fuentes, Gavin Bronstad, Deegan Browning, Brycen Bruender, Derek Budahn, Bryce Bure, Amelia Burns, Rhylynn Danberry, Addison Dobberstein, Matthew Dobberstein, Kaiden Ellis, Sawyer Fellows, Athos Francis, Piper Gerdts, Lucas Gunsolus, Ceanna Handt, Violet Janske-Roiger, Dominic Jentz, Roxanne Jentz, Silas Kirksey, David Lau, Jacob Luitjens, Breckyn Lynch, Mackenzie Lyons, Roslynne Mincks, Jaxson More, Taylynn More, Adeline Morsching, Christian Mulcahey, Gus Myhr, Tyler Nelson, Clara Place, Indi Quast, Wesley Rangel, Evan Riewe, Cora Schaetzke, Liam Schlingmann, Harper Schmitt, Connor Schoenrock, Caden Trahms, Mason Trahms, Moses Waguk, Bennett Watts, Jayda Wheelock, and Kai Yirai-Bluhm.
The fifty students, dubbed the kindergarten Class of 2023, will be the Class of 2035 when they graduate high school.
