Jake Lieser to represent Minnesota

Waseca exchangite headed to ‘26 Special Olympics
The Waseca Exchange Club is proud to announce that member and Special Olympics athlete Jake Lieser has been selected to represent Team Minnesota at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, taking place in late June at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus.

Jake will compete in track and field, a sport he’s trained tirelessly in for years. His selection is a milestone not just for Jake, but for the entire Waseca community. Jake has been a participant in Waseca’s Special Olympics programs for over 15 years, finding both camaraderie and challenge in every season.

To help support his upcoming journey to the Games, the Waseca Exchange Club has awarded Jake a $1,000 gift from its newly established Special Olympics Fund. The fund, along with a dedicated fundraising committee, was formed to further support inclusive athletic opportunities in the community.

“We are bursting with pride over our fellow Exchangite, Jake Lieser, over his selection.” said Waseca Exchange Club President, Mikhail Rostislavovich. “Jake is the embodiment of dedication, whether he’s training for track and field or showing up for our Club events, he brings his full heart and unwavering spirit. His 15 years of involvement in Special Olympics is a testament to his resilience and passion. We believe in Jake, and we know he’ll make Waseca and Minnesota proud.”

Jake humbly shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It means a lot to be chosen for Team Minnesota. I love the challenge and making friends through Special Olympics. I’m going to give it my all, just like always. I am really excited to compete!”

The Special Olympics USA Games is a nationally celebrated event that highlights the abilities, determination, and sportsmanship of athletes from across the country. The 2026 Games will bring over 4,000 athletes and coaches from all 50 states to Minnesota for a week of spirited competition and unity.

The Waseca Exchange Club invites the community to join them in celebrating Jake’s achievement and to support efforts that foster inclusion, perseverance, and pride through athletics.
