The Waseca Garden Club set up a display at the fair previewing their upcoming tour set for July 22.

Garden club tour set for weekend

The Waseca Garden Club will be sponsoring a Summer Garden Tour open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 22. This is a free event and will take place rain or shine.
Maps showing all the tour locations can be picked up starting at 1 p.m. that Saturday at the Bailey-Lewer house located at 315 Second Ave. N.E in Waseca. This is one of Waseca's oldest homes, built in 1868, and it is on the National Historic Register. It is now home to the Waseca County Historical Society and Historical Gardens. The gardens are lovingly planted and maintained by volunteers, with labeled heirloom plantings and a printed plant material list available. Refreshments will be served and attendants will be available to answer questions.
The “Homestead House” was built in 1914: Owner Nancy Walters has created a warm and inviting atmosphere both inside and out with her home goods and decorating store.
Audrey and Ralph Keyes have been planting their landscaped home for peace and tranquility for over 20 years. Their shaded backyard boasts of many varieties of hostas. Along with their vegetable gardens, they grow fruit vines and trees. Check out their chicken coop and greenhouse that complete this idyllic backyard.
Mike and Jane Mulcahey live in a flowering farmyard with a pond, fire pit, garden shed, gazebo, pergolas, and arbors. Printed signs of wit and wisdom are mixed into their gardens, and you'll see metal art pieces of their grandkids there, too. There are countless birdhouses, along with rustic, re-purposed, and vintage pieces throughout their landscape.
Vicki and Dennis Neidt began their multiple gardens 25 years ago after their son and his friends built a gazebo for them. They have a small pond with a waterfall, and have added raised beds for easier vegetable gardening. Their flower gardens have been planted for color and whimsy, with perennials and annuals in abundance. Look carefully to find the gnome door, too!
This is a lovely group of gardens and landscapes to stroll through on a Saturday afternoon. Don't miss this chance to find gardening ideas for your own home!
