Early Childhood Fair offers 'awesome' event

Well over 300 children and adults visited the Early Childhood Fair sponsored by the Waseca Community Ed Family Education Center (FEC) the evening of March 27. Children climbed, danced, completed craft projects and took part in learning activities while parents had a chance to visit with numerous local agencies which provide various family programs and services.

While she acknowledges one of the favorite highlights was “the opportunity to pet baby animals,” Carrie Morris, FEC Coordinator, observed, “We think the Early Childhood Fair was a great success by offering a free activity for families to have fun with lots of hands-on activities and also had the ability to make connections with community members and services.

“It was a great evening!  The whole gym was bustling with activity from 5 to 7.

“One of the best comments was overheard when a dad said, ‘This event is awesome!’  Most
people thanked us on the way out the door.”

The groups and organizations which had tables at the fair included the Waseca Family Education Center; Jay’s Nest School-Age Care; Waseca-LeSueur Public Library; Cub Scout Pack 86; Waseca Community Education gymnastics program; the Exchange Club Center for Family Unity; Waseca BlueJay Dance Studio; Families First of Minnesota; the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office; Waseca Police Department; Waseca Fire Department; Farmamerica; Kim and Steve Scheffert, who brought baby animals; Waseca Area Neighborhood Service Center; SPERO/Children’s Mental Health Case Management; Waseca County Public Health; and TEAM Academy.
