Duelly Noted performer Cassondra Ruprecht
A duelling good time

The Starfire Event Center was the place to be Saturday, Jan. 14. The Waseca Area Ambassadors hosted Duelly Noted, a female dueling piano pair based out of the Twin Cities. United Prairie Bank was an additional sponsor.
About two hundred people took part. “Well take it!” Waseca Chamber Executive Director Ann Fitch said.
Duelly Noted members Jacy Smith and Cassondra Ruprecht met in college. The two started out as enemies, but after taking a class together and sharing a ride to a performance, they found out that maybe they could be friends after all.
Before the performers took the stage, Waseca Area Ambassador President Ann Fitch expressed her gratitude for the evening’s entertainment.
The event was sponsored by the Waseca Area Ambassadors. Fitch also shared some jokes–a few of them definitely intended for adults–before handing the microphone off to the piano duo.
The two frenemies played until 9 p.m. They opened the show with Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” While most dueling piano pairs like to focus on a single instrument, Ruprecht started the night playing electronic drums.
Smith and Ruprecht played classics such as “What’s Going On?,” Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets,” and, of course, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. They encouraged the crowd to sing along, and a few lucky people even joined them on stage playing instruments like the cowbell.
It was a good time for all. But the party didn’t stop there. An aftershow took place across the street at Club 57.
For those that missed Duelly Noted, there will be another chance to catch them at the Mill on Saturday, February 11. Tickets are RSVP.
