September is School Board Recognition Month. Superintendent Eric Hudspith presented his proposed 2026-2027 performance goals to the board during the September 17 business meeting. The goals, which mirror the district’s strategic plan, are part of the superintendent evaluation completed by board members at the end of each school year.
Hudspith proposes to lead the district in implementation of strategic priorities emphasizing student achievement and future readiness, to strengthen effectiveness and community trust through purposeful communication, to lead the district through development and implementation of a comprehensive facilities alignment strategy, and to implement a financial strategy that aligns available resources with strategic priorities while also maintaining fiscal stability.
The board will vote on the proposed superintendent performance goals in October.
Business manager Andrew Adams provided a report on the preliminary payable property tax levy for 2027. As of Sept. 16, the preliminary maximum equals a 1.61% increase. Adams showed the board the historical data for the previous five calendar years, stating that the average increase is only 0.72%. The district’s “Truth in Taxation” hearing was set for 6 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Central Building second floor conference room.
