Argument leads to felony damage

A Janesville man is accused of damaging a family member’s property after an argument on July 6.  Dylan Bauman, 26, has been charged with one count of felony criminal damage to property in the first degree.
According to a criminal complaint, around 7:18 p.m. on July 6, a Waseca County deputy was sent to a property in New Richland with a report of  “a person being out of control and damaging property.”
The complaint stated that Bauman and a family member had an “argument over a bill” in the capacity of their work together. Bauman believed he should have been paid more money than he had for a previous job. At one point, it is alleged that Bauman “kicked in the door to the home and overturned some furniture, went back outside, and broke the windows in the [family member’s] truck.”
Allegedly, Bauman then said he was going to “wrap the Duramax truck around a pole.” According to the complaint, more than $1,000 worth of damage was done to the victim’s truck and home, elevating the crime to a felony for criminal damage of property. Bauman was arrested near the post office in Janesville.
Bauman was released on condition that he make all future court appointments and make no more threats of harassment or assaultive behavior, violence, threatening or intimidation. He had a Rule 8 appearance via a virtual hearing on July 18.
